About The Badger Sett

Made by Marcus and Ell

Quick answer

The Badger Sett is a free, independent guide to British badgers and the wildlife that shares their woods. It is made by Marcus and Ell, lifelong badger watchers and the owners of Local Web 360. Every guide is checked against published sources, and we never share where badgers or setts are.

Who we are

The Badger Sett is an independent project built by Marcus and Ell, the owners of Local Web 360. We've been watching badgers since childhood near Skipton. Some of the setts we've watched over the years have been home to generation after generation of badgers for more than 50 years, and are still in use today.

We are not a charity or an official authority, and we are not affiliated with the organisations we link to. We point to them because they do the hands-on work.

Our promise to the badgers

We never disclose badger or sett locations: our secret, and theirs! You won't find a map, grid reference or place name for any active sett on this site, and we ask everyone who watches badgers to do the same.

How we check our facts

Every guide is written from published sources: government guidance, peer-reviewed research and established wildlife charities. Each page lists its sources and the date it was last reviewed. Legal information is a plain-English summary, not advice.

We use AI tools to help with some of our research and to create some of our images. Like us humans, AI occasionally makes mistakes, so we check what it produces against the sources listed on each page. If you spot something that isn't right, you're more than welcome to let us know. We don't bite!

Children and privacy

The Badger Academy needs no account. Names typed onto certificates and quiz progress stay in your own browser and are never sent to us. Read our privacy notice

Links to other organisations

We link to charities, rescues and government guidance that we trust. Links to other websites open in a new tab and are marked nofollow, because we can't control how other sites change.
